History of Bhavanigad Fort
Not much is known about the fort. It is said that the fort was built in the 14th century. Later on Shivaji Maharaj made it stronger in the year 1661 and made the temple of Bhavani Mata.
But the Marathas could not hold the fort it was won by the Britishers later on in the year 1818.
The Bhavanigad is located in the Sangameshwar/ Ratnagiri district; it is famous for the huge temple of Goddess Bhavani which is rushed by the pilgrims every year.
Kadvai is the town close to the fort Bhavanigad. As we move ahead on the trail to the Fort, we pass through Mhadgewadi, Gosaviwadi and Shirkewadi, 3 groups in the region of the fortification.
The trail is divided into two and the path to the privilege takes us to the top. After a precarious stroll for 5 minutes, we reach towards little storage.
Eventually we reach the primary doorway and to the principal sanctuary; this is a decent settlement on the fortification. In this sanctuary, there is a bust of Shivaji Maharaj and an aged symbol of Goddess Bhavani.
This is the fortification of the Fort, where the sanctuary is found. Behind the citadel is the doorway of the Fort, and the trail through this prompts the southern tip where a couple of more reservoirs are available.
