History of Ballarpur fort

Ballarpur in old times was a regal city, and in the vestiges of the stronghold and its royal residence, still holds the commemorations of its past significance. It is said to have been established by the Gond King Khandkya Ballalsah (1437-62) who succeeded to the throne on the demise of SerSah, his father.
He was additionally the originator of the Chandrapur town. This ruler was so harassed by tumours and heats up that he was an offence to his wives and also the court, just the shrewd and the wonderful Hiratalni, his monarch staying devoted to him and bearing him organization.
The post and also the settlement that grew up around it came to be referred to after the lord as Ballalpur or the city of Ballal. In spite of the fact that another royal residence came to be constructed at Chandrapur amid the rule of Khandkya's successor, and the seat of government was exchanged there, Ballarpur seems to have been an auxiliary regal living arrangement for a few hundreds of years.
Here in 1751 A.D. Nilkantha Sah, the final one of the Gond Kings kicked the bucket in detainment, and in 1790 the castle was repaired by Nana Saheb Bhosale. Today the post, except for a couple of dividers which still stand erect opposing wind and downpour for quite a long time, has fallen into remnants.
The entryway is extremely beautiful and inside the fortification the diagrams of the antiquated castle can be followed no sweat. Inside the royal residence are two shafts with doors a couple of feet separated which diverging in inverse bearings, lead each to a set of three underground loads, one of which speaks with the door from the waterway or the water entryway.
At the point when these chambers were investigated in 1865 A.D. some aged copper coins and rusted iron rings were found. There is additionally a perpendicular shaft the object of which has not been learned.
It is told that one of the passages corresponds with the castle in Chandrapur the doorway to which is said to be in a well in the patio. This shaft has its section essentially hindered at the door and now nobody enters it because of inconsistent murkiness inside.
From the water entryway a staircase leads up the defence divider where there are roomy stone stages from where a captivating perspective of the waterway can be had.
A heavy picture of Kesavnath plated with gold once in the past remained in a little house under a neem tree before the castle. In 1818 amid the Wars of the British with Appa Saheb this icon was stolen. After four years a Kamavisdar by name Pungpatel More displayed a stone picture set up of the stolen metal one, and Mr. Crawford who was director endorsed a stipend for the sanctuary.
East of the town by the side of the Sironca-Allapalli Street, in the midst of congested wildernesses, lays the sanctuary tomb of Khandkya Ballalsah in a disregarded state. It is provincially called the sanctuary of Kharji and some uninformed fortune-seeker has uprooted the headstones in the trust of striking covered riches and left the empty open.
Before it, at his feet, as is meet, is the tomb encasing the powder of his wife, the adoring and the reliable Hiratalni, noblest and savvies of the rulers of Chandrapur.
