Bhupalgad is a witness to one of the fights in the Marathas and Mughals. Dilerkhan, one of the Mughal generals assaulted the fort in 1679. Firangoji Narsala, the veteran Maratha authority was in control (killedar) of the fort. He had battled with Shaista Khan for around two months in Sangramdurg (Chakan).

Firangoji effectively shocked the assault of the Mughals. At this point, sovereign Sambhaji was with Dilerkhan. He took the control of war and sent a letter to Firangoji to hand over the post to the Mughals. Firangoji was exceptionally stunned by this message.

He took after the request of ruler Sambhaji and gave over the fortification to Mughals. At the point when Dilerkhan entered the post with his armed force, he requested to hack off one hand of all the Maratha warriors on the fortification.

The request was emulated and the one hand of all the Maratha warriors was slashed off. Dilerkhan later destructed the post abandoning it pointless for war. Firangoji went to Raigad, and portrayed the episode to Shivaji Maharaj. Shivaji Maharaj got to be extremely vexed.

He requested all the killedars not to leave the stronghold under any circumstances unless they got immediate request from him to do so.
