History of Gandarvagad Fort

Notice of Sabhasad Bakhar, Gandharvgad is one of the 111 forts restored by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. On January 1666, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj caught this fortress in the victory of Panhala with a multitude of 5000.

July 1687, Desai's of Kakti Karyati and Desai of Hukkeri Pargana's caught this stronghold from Marathas, for which Adilshah was guaranteed the Deshmukhi of Ajamnagar in Belgaon and Chandgad Ajra individually. Adilshah controlled the fort for numerous years. Sadashivrao Bhau Peshwa stayed here for a few times amid his Karnataka crusade. Later the British armed forces decimated this post in 1844.

Gandharvgad is a little town in Chandgad Taluka in Kolhapur District. Chandgad, Ajara, Nesari, and Gadhinglaj, are the adjacent Towns to Gandharvgad.
