History of Makrandgad.

The fort is also called Madhu Makarandgad as it is accepted to be comprised of two separate fort Madhu and Makarandgad. The top of the mountain known as Madhu Shikhar which is the primary attraction point.

It has structured a limit between the areas of Ratnagiri, Raigad and Satara. There are temples of Bhairoba and Mallikarjun on the highest point of the mountain. The top gives the views of Mahabaleshwar and Pratapgad on the North Eastern side, and fort of Rasalgad, Sumargad and Mahipatgad on the eastern side.

The fort is covered by the popular timberland of Javli. The fort also gives a perspective of the backwaters of the Koyna and Shivsagar dams. On the eastern side of the fort, there is one water storage in the cave.
