History of Palgad Fort.

Palgad was constructed by Shivaji Maharaj. This fortress is arranged in thick vegetation close to Palgad town, on the Khed-Pali course. This is the town where Sane Guruji was conceived. This fortification is said to have been utilized as a watch tower.

The region of the post is around 1.5 sections of land. The primary door is east-bound and totally broken. The bastion is still there. There is one standard half covered close to the passage, the second one on "Holicha Mal", and the third one in a field in the town.

We can discover a few plinths of old houses and a dried water tank. The further part gets to be narrower and there is a bastion. Some pieces of the dividers is remaining. We can discover living arrangements on the mountain top.

It is one of the back mid-slope fortresses in the Ratnagiri area. The fortress offers a wonderful perspective of Sahyadri's reaches and its branches sliding towards west. It structures a limit between Dapoli taluka in the west and Khed Taluka in the east. There is thick woodland on the western side of the slope though flawlessly cut rice terrraces in the east. The path at the doorway to the fortress is cut out of rock. There are a few leftovers of the old structures and two ordinances. There is one well which has no water in it.

The town at the western base of the slope was prior known as Palil. The summit of the slope is formed like a reptile for which the Marathi word is Pal. Along these lines, the stronghold was named as Palgad. The town transformed its name from Palil to Palgad being near to the stronghold as time passed by. The Palgad was a significant commercial center for the encompassing towns previously. The fortress is said to have been developed amid the rule of Shivaji and after that was under the control of Peshavas. It went under British control therefore.

The fortification has little of the structure from the past. The thick woodland on the western end is accepted to be having a few spirits and makes the individual who goes up the stronghold through those overlook his path back. The wonder is known as Chakwa in the nearby dialect. It is ideal to have a neighborhood manage or get the headings effectively while climbing the slope from Palgad town. Then again one can climb it from the Eastern side of village of Kadamwadi which is a villa of the town Jamge in the Khed taluka.

Rasalgad

Rasalgad Fort (Khed Taluka), at the south end of the goad which further north is delegated by the Sumargad and Mahipatgad posts, has a region of around five sections of land. Less lifted than both of the above fortresses, Rasalgad is approached by a simple rising which starts on the west and is around three miles from the town of Madave (Khed T.; p. 897). Restricted in the north, the fortress continuously expands, partitioning in the south into two goads, one racing to the south-east, the other to the south-west.
