History of Mangalgad Fort

Mangalgad, otherwise called Kangori, is a fort in Maharashtra close to the town of Dudhanewadi (दुधानेवाडी). Kangori or Mangalgad Fort, is in the Mahad sub-division around eleven miles east by south from Mahad town.
The fort is based on the highest point of a soak and treeless goad of the Sahyadris, 2457 feet high, and is arrived at by a restricted and tough way around two miles in length. The fort is 1485 feet from east to west and 264 from north to south.

Mangalgad was constructed by Chandrarao
More of Jawali. It was one of seven forts caught by Shivaji in 1648.
It was the spot of oppression of Chitursing (चितुरसिंह) the brother of the Raja of Satara, from 1812 till his death
in 1818.
In 1817 Cornets Hunter and Morrison, two English officers on the
Madras foundation, on their route from Hyderabad to Pune with a small
guide were gotten at Uruli (उरुळी) 20 miles east of Pune, and under arrest here.
Eventually after, by Gokhla's
requests, they were pulled up to Vasota in Satara, and,
on the destruction of that fort in April 1817, they were restored to
opportunity. In 1818 Kangori was taken by Colonel Brother, after the fall of
Raigad fort.
The structures and the portal are in remains however a piece of
the bulwark remains. Inside the bulwark is a destroyed temple and a rock-cut
storage, however no building of any size or investment. Mangalgad includes of a
lonely Temple, called Kangori Devi Temple, with storages at the top. The
wada and jail are both in ruins.
Mangalgad or Kangorigad is one of the forts
located in the thick valley of Jawali. Valley of Jawli made of thick Timberlands,
huge mountains & deep valleys in the medieval period, which made this area
secure.
Jawali is included by Mahabaleshwar, Makarandgad, Mangalgad, Chandragad, Pratapgad, Kawala Fort & Parghat.
"More" family governed this valley for ages. Mahad was a principle exchange focus then. Goods emptied in
Mahad were dispatched to different places through the varied exchange
courses.
To keep an eye on these exchange courses forts are based on the
Western Ghats and Konkan. Mangalgad was constructed
to shield the exchange courses of Bhop Ghat, Varandh Ghat & Aswal
Khind.
