History of Mangi-Tungi Fort
Nashik is called the religious capital of Maharashtra; Mangi - Tungi is the sacred place for both Hindus & Jain. Thousands of pilgrims allover Maharashtra visit Mangi - Tungi which are mostly Jains and is nothing less sacred than Kanshi& Mecca. Mangi - Tungi is compared with the Sammed Shikar in north India.
It is the gateway of enlightenment known as the Siddhakshetra, It is located in the Baglan tehsil. An important Myth states that who want to seek the path of enlightenment and are religiously inclined have to visit the Mangi - Tungi.
Around 90 crore saints and celebrities visited Mangi - Tungi to attain 'Moksha' from which one of them are Lord Krishna and Lord Rama. Lord Krishna took his last breadth and abandoned his material body in this area.
After his brother Balram wakes out of the sadness that took Paramadnyana, he attains enlightenment on the Mangi - Tungi and also the ultimate knowledge. Lord Rama came with 28000 kings and 46000 others, lord hanuman also came with him.
After severe punishments, they received the powers of universal forces. Lord Ram's wife Seeta also took holiness at Mangi - Tungi. To date, many sages of Jain come here to attain truth and knowledge of the universe.
There are 4500 steps which takes us to the peak. These steps are made for the convenience of the pilgrims. We can see Jain caves near the steps and three temples having around 75 idols. A festival of mountains is celebrated every year from September to October.
Rathyatra is the main attraction for which large number of peoples such as Hindus and Jains. There are Dharamshala and food is available at affordable prices.
The fort comprises Two Peaks which are called Mangi Giri and Tungi Giri.
Mangi Giri
This peak stands at a height of 4343 feet above sea level. The peak has Feet's of saints known as 'Charnaas' and around 7 - 8 old temples are made on the fort. Krishna Kund a pond can be seen on the fort.
This pond is named after Krishna because Lord Krishna spent his last days near this pond. There is a cave called 'Balbhadra' because after the death of lord Krishna his brother Balram practiced redemption and achieved fifth heaven. Many caves are dedicated to Seeta, Mahaveer, Adinath, Shantinath, Parshwanath and Ratnatrya on the fort and also idols of yogic postures in the caves.
Tungi Giri
This peak stands at a height of 4366 feet above the sea level. We see two caves named Bhagwan Chandra Prabhu and Ramchandra caves the 8th Tirthankars. Idols of Hanuman, Gava, Gavaksha, neeletc can be seen which are ancient.
Two caves of Shuda and budhamuniescan be seen. The giant structure of Munisuvrat Nath which is 31 feet can be seen on the fort in 'Padmasanna' posture and also many small and big idols can be seen on the fort.
Mangi - Tungi is a religious place for the Hindus and Jains but also a heaven for the hikers and adventurers. This fort is surrounded by many historical spots and forts. An important festival related to the fort is Mahavir Jayanti. The place is sacred and hence there is no such pollution such as air and noise.

Mulher fort
The fort is at a height of 4290 feet above sea level and medium grade trek. The fort has a big history in 1672 Shivaji Maharaj captured the fort with another fort Salher in this area. Mughals anyhow gained the fort from Shivaji Maharaj.
In 1752 Bhalki Khandesh region went in the hands of Marathas. In 1818 Britishers took the fort. Moragad is part of the fort it is 4450 feet an easy trek. This fort does not have any history. We can water cisterns and remnants of the old buildings.
We can see Hargad, Mangi - Tungi, Nhavigad, Tambolya and Hanuman Tekdi from the top. Apart from this Hargad, Salher, Salota, Nhavigad and Hanuman Tekdi are the nearby forts to Mangi - Tungi.
